Why do I need DVD Shop Express?
Applied Magic customers are always looking for easy solutions to video production.
Creating professional authored DVDs just got much easier. The learning curve of
traditional authoring programs can be steep and stand-alone DVD recorders have
limited authoring capabilities. The DVD Shop Express has an intuitive interface that
prompts the user to select a background (select one of dozens of thematic templates),
type in the date, name of DVD, select one of several chaptering features and bring in
the video source through DV or S-video. DVD Shop Express does the rest by
encoding the video, creating the authored DVD and burning the DVD. It will even create
a label and a wrap without any additional effort. Simply plug in a USB printer (Epson
R300 is a good choice), load the media and DVD Shop Express will do the rest.

What is new with DVD Shop Express?
At Applied Magic, we try to listen and respond to our customers so our products
best fit your needs. Through our survey, we learned that users wanted to take the
DVD Shop to a remote location and record direct from camera. They also wanted to
archive video projects for longer periods of time and they wanted to create live chapter
thumbnails as the video was being captured. In response, Applied Magic added the
following features to DVD Shop Express.

• Smaller Enclosure - By making the enclosure smaller and lighter (12 lbs.), DVD
  Shop Express is easier than ever to take on location for live productions. Create
  DVDs at a school play, wedding, corporate lecture or court deposition and hand
  a professional DVD to the customer on the spot. For a limited time, the Express
  comes with a handy travel bag to carry a monitor, keyboard, mouse and
  DVD Shop Express.
  
  
  
• Archive Video - The hard drives have increased in size (160 GIG and 300GIG).
  Now a user can save dozens of DVD projects on the 300 GIG drive while the
  160 GIG is used for working with active projects.
• Live Chapter Selection – Having the option to select a chapter point as the
  video is being captured makes it possible to have all the chapters selected and
  titled without having to review the encoded video. This saves time and production
  costs to any video production.
• Make a DVD From Any Source - Author a DVD from any DV/Analog source
  including Video Mixer, Camera, VHS Player, ScreenPlay/NLE or live capture
  feed.
• Point & Click User Interface - We have designed our intuitive user interface
  with the look and feel of standard video deck controls making it easy to master
  the use of DVD Shop Express in a matter of minutes.
• Dolby AC3 Audio Encoding - From the Encoding menu you can select either
  Stereo AC3 (Dolby) or MPEG Audio for the audio encoding format.
• Segment Encoding - With this feature you have the ability to pause and restart
  the video capture as necessary. Each time you do the system will automatically
  place a chapter marker at the beginning of the next video segment and this
  marker will show up as a scene selection on your DVD menu.
• Auto Play/Continuous Playback Option - You can choose to create a DVD
  that stops after one play through or you can choose a continuous or looped DVD
  format.

DVD Shop Express comes with dozens of templates for every occasion. The main
menu will display the date and name of the DVD which DVD Shop express will prompt
the user to enter this information before encoding the video. Each template comes with
a main menu, about menu, and a chapter menu.

• Main Menus – Most of the main menus come with buttons which direct the viewer
  to “play video”, “scene selection”, and “about this DVD”. With Menu maker one can
  open a template and move/change the buttons to their desired look.
• Scene Selection Menu – This is where the thumbnails of the chapterpoints are
  displayed. If there are more than 12 thumbnails, an additional page will be
  automatically created.
• About this DVD – This gives the author a chance to enter information about the
  DVD, copyright info, etc.

ATTENTION SCREENPLAY/SEQUEL OWNERS:
While DVD Shop Express can be used with any editing system, it does make a
perfect companion to your ScreenPlay Editing System, the two products work
seamlessly together.
